The well-know lake of Preveli lies at the mouth of the Mega Potamos, at the end of Kourtaliotiko gorge. Those intending to visit it should take the road to Preveli Monastery then, just before the monastery, turn off to the left on a dirt road and follow this to its end. From there, the walk down to the sandy beach brings visitors to an almost tropical landscape full of Theophrastus’ palm trees. The river flowing into the sea and the wild vegetation are a unique sight which draws a great number of visitors.
